Synchro rings going or no?

Synchro rings going or no?
Hello,
I have a 1996 4.9L 5 spd M5oD.
When I shift from gear to gear there seems to be about a 1/2 second wait as I go from gear to gear, meaning the shift lever won't go in then next gear for a about a half a second or so. Does this imply the tranny synchro rings are going bad?
I used to have a 1993 302 5 spd and seem to remember smooth shifts from gear to gear effortlessly.
Also when I let out the clutch there is a short squeak every time. If I let it out slow I can avoid the squeak. Throw out bearing?
Thanks!

That's what it certainly sounds like. When you drive, do you drive with your hand on the stick? That will certainly cause the synchros to wear out prematurely.
