Default switching to manual pcm

how can I decode or figure out which pcm I need i went from an e4od to m5od news to me when I went to the parts store that were like 10 different part numbers from pcms... can anyone please help me I just wanna get this project done

You need a computer set up to run your motor and the new transmission. You may also need the M5OD trans wiring harness (or not, I'm not sure, but you might).
Basically you would order the pcm for your year with your motor size and an m5od, just as if the truck came with that in the first place.

Thanks for the reply however that's what I was trying to do and ended up finding out ththat there were like 10 different part numbers within that description I guess maybe they will all work I just have no clue what the difference is the price goes from like 105 dollars to 235 dollars

Well you don't say what your truck is or has other than the m5od, but for example : a 1994 F150 2wd with a 302 and an m5od should have one specific computer setup to run it.
There may be a few different manufacturers/rebuilders/refurbishers but there's only one specific (stock) computer setup for it (other than some customized ones with specialty programs maybe, but then you would have to know a lot about the computer programming to order what you wanted).

It's from a 1989 F250 LD. 4x4 5.0L with 5speed, the mazda 5spd. I would like to sell complete engine trans with it. but will split.

It's a 1992 f150 4.9 (originally automatic e4od) but now m5od it is 2wd 3.55 posi rear single cab short bed no ac no cruise

They made lots of 92's with 4.9 and m5od. Just buy a computer for that. Different prices will often reflect quality (but not always, of course).

There's a lot of different part Numbers but I think I'll take your advice and just try one what can it hurt
