Default swapping axles info

My rear diff is about to let loose I think on my 96 150 SCLB 4X4. It has axle code 19. I have an 88 150 RCLB with axle code H92. If I understand right, 19 is open 3.55 and H92 is limited 3.55 x2. What I need info on is should I swap both axles out. The 88 has quad front shock which I think would look good on my 96. The 88 is basically a donor, no title. Any thoughts or info is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time

As long as it's the same ratio you don't "need" to swap both. If it were me, I would keep the front that's in now simply because it's newer.

Well if you want to, go for it lol How many miles are in each truck?

Also keep in mind that if your switching to a quad shock front end, you'll need to swap out the spring tower and shock mounts as well. In most cases they are riveted to the frame. Easily replaced with grade 8 bolts, getting them OFF is the hard part. Die grinder will be your best friend.

Around same mileage on both. Got grinders, torches all that. Was thinking the limited slip was a little better.

As far as I know, front axles are the same aren't they? If one front diff is open and the other is in fact limited slip, I would go with the limited slip.

My 96's are both open. My 88's are limited slip front and rear, going by the door sticker. There's no evidence that the 88 has been messed with

Then swap both in! What good is 4x4 if only one front wheel and one back wheel spin? Lol
