Default Steering Binding

Hi all. I have a 96 f150, and for the past few months I've been having binding issues. I go to turn left (or right) and sometimes it acts like it's at full lock, until I turn it harder. Then it either still binds or it goes away. Any ideas on what it could be?

Possibly the steering box adjusted too tight?

I thought that too, so I had replaced it with a new napa one. No change. I'm thinking the steering shaft from the wheel to the box?

I'd bet on memory steer from bad ball joint or joints. Had an Excursion and it was notorious for that problem. You can jack it up, pop tie rod off and see what you find. It can be tricky as the ball joint won't bind sometimes without a load on it.

Have someone turn it and watch the steering shaft or anything else you suspect it could be.
