Default Regear?

Hello all,

I'm about to lift my 95 F150 4x4 5.0 to 6" with 35's. Am I going to have to rehear my truck?

It's usually not cheap and not for the amateur mechanic either

just to swap gears in front and rear axles a shop quoted me at $1200 total, they buy the gears. i always tell people to just swap complete axles unless your going to a low gear. you can find 4.10s in factory trucks and swap the whole axle for about $100 each. but i hear 4.56s (did not come stock in 150s) are best in 150s if you have 35s or larger tires. really depends what you plan to do with the truck after the lift/tires.

I have a 5.0 on 35s and I only have 3.55s. I won't say it's a power horse but it does get the job done for daily driving. I wouldn't say you have to regear immediately I would put the lift and tires on and then see how it runs and how much you want to spend to how much more you are going to get out of it.

Default 3.55 Gears

I've been working on mine for the last year. Just had the trans rebuilt and in the next couple of weeks I'll be doing the upper and lower ball joints. A regear is in the future. With the 3.55's it's a dog over 50 MPG.

My truck is a 5.0 with a 6" lift and 35s and 3.55 in the rear but I have a 4 speed, mine isn't that bad but its not like I race or anything. It gets the job done and gets about 14 on the highway. One thing I don't like is because big tires and 3.55 gears and a granny gear 4 speed it runs about 80-85 max it don't have the power to spin them big tires any faster

It's going to be a bit of a real dog off the line and use a lot of fuel around town. Highway mileage is usually a little better.
Regearing compensates for the bigger tires, but it's expensive. But so is fuel so you need to weigh the pro's and cons.
