Default Oil Pressure ?

Newere, but not to ford I6 engines. I recently bought a 94 150, I6 with manual 5 speed & 130K 0n the truck. From all appearances the truck has not been abused. My question is the Oil Pressure gauge shows just below the half way point after truck has reached operating temperture. I would have thought it would be above the mid-way point with this milage. Does not smoke or show indications of oil use, no dripping, Opinions please;

I thought the gauges on these trucks were no more than dummy gauges. From what Ive read, its a "You have oil pressure" or "you have none!" type of thing. Does your move up and down as you give it more or less gas?

The needle does not vary from the time I start it up in the morning cold to when I get back home in the evening. So far every thing has been good with the truck, averaging 16 mpg in town traffic, so no complaints with the gas consumption.

Get a mechanical gauge and check the actual oil pressure. Our stock OP gauges are notoriously wrong and it takes 5 minutes to check the oil pressure. Permanently installing the gauge takes about 30 minutes. That is the only correct way to verify what your asking the forum to do. Not being an ***.....being truthful.

Don't mean to drag up an old thread, but what should oil pressure be at operating temperature and at 2000 rpm? I heard 40-60 but I'm running around 35. Just curious to see if my pump is getting tired. Thanks

Generally need 10psi per 1000rpm. Never looked what these trucks run since it's just a dummy gauge but my LS1 runs ~25psi at idle on up to 60psi when hard revving.

OK thanks. My 300-6 is running about 15 at warm idle and 60 psi when cold at 2k. When its warmed up it rarely goes over 50 no matter how hard I drive.
