well guys just did a massive tune up on the motor runs a lot better but just found out that my spider gears and housing are cracked. so now i need to get a new DIFF. i found a auburn:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aub-542025/overview/

now i have not counted the ring and pinion yet to see what my ratio is. i know i have asked this before but i was looking at some ford racing or richmond gears what do you guys think?

It would be easier to look on your door jam and tell us what is under axle. It will tell your stock gear ratio. Here's a pic of mine to help you find your quicker.

thanks for the info. i looked at the ring it says it a 3.31 and the door says the axle is a H7. i since this thing has 3.31 and its mainly a street truck/ weekend warrior im thinking about a 3.73 but i still want to do some light hauling like a small trailer. and just for some more info i was on summit and looking for a 3.73 gear for the front its a dana 44. but they want to know:

cover bolt count
pinion spline count
carrier series
ring gear rotation
ring gear diameter
pinion shaft diameter

these things i don't know what they are but could ford give me the right info?

ok guys just got my truck re-geared to a 3.73 front and back. i had a good friend help me but he was so busy and some of the parts that summit sent me was wrong it took up almost 3 weeks to get it done. now the problem now is that the back end is not set up right. im getting a hallowing sound when i am de-accelerating around 35-25mph. we are thinking that it might need to be re shimmed just a little. but now he has no time to adjust it now since he has to work out of state for a month, so have to take it to a shop to have it adjusted right and i was wondering how much would that cost i am thinking maybe 300-400?

Backlash is set too wide, if you go more than couple hundred miles you'll probably need new gears. If you have driven a lot might as well not worry and keep going.

That's good, when not setup properly the gears can get a wear pattern very quickly. Then even if set right they will make noise.
