looking for feedback on gear pattern
1995 F150 8.8 different rebuild... this is my first different rebuild. I "preassembled" everything without the crush sleeve. My preload is correct an backlash is within range. I am looking at my gear pattern and wanted to get a second (and probably third and fourth) opinion on what I am seeing. Marking compound is and two places on the ring gear. I am turning the ring gear by hand. thanks in advance Pictures are below
I added this one because it shows the marking compound transfer from the pinion gear onto the ring ear.
Same thing with this one: backside of the ring gear teeth showing the marking compound transfer from the pinion gear.

I added more pictures. Something happened in the upload of my pictures on the mobile site so I came inside and put them up. And I'm not sure about the last picture.

That's what I thought too, and these are Yukon gears and bearings .
So now my next step is to remove everything, put on the crush sleeve, then reinstall everything, correct?
This is probably a dumb question but I am going to ask it anyway: If the original pinion shim and carrier shims are giving me the correct backlash and gear pattern, could I reuse the original crush sleeve so as long as I don't crush it down even more? Or is it absolutely mandatory to install a new sleeve and re-torque pinion gear down?

Another question I came up with while working on this is if there should be any play at all in the pinion shaft once everything is tightened down with the crush sleeve on. I put the pinion gear with a new crush sleeve and tightened down the pinion nut as much as I can by hand (without putting a pipe onto the rachet and going at it). The preload is within the specs for my truck that came with the bearing kit -- 14-19 inch pounds (it's sitting at 18-20 when I turn it). But, there is still some play in the pinion gear in that I can pull it towards the front of the truck about 1/16 of an inch. That's not a lot but I'm wondering if there should be any at all.
I have not torqued the pinion nut yet. My Haynes manual calls for 160 ft. pounds of torque, then check the preload. Maybe when I do that, everything will tighten up.
