i think my zf-5 needs rebuilt
I'm new to the F150 forum, I have a ford truck pieced together from many trucks. It's making noises that I think is from a failing zf-5. It has a 351 and zf-5 from a 89 F250, with unknown mileage. Ever since I installed the engine and trans in my 94 F150 (about a year ago) the trans has made a gear chatter when in neutral. Push the clutch pedal in, it stops. Also when pulling out in 1st or 2nd gear it sounds like gears grinding. When idling in 1st or 2nd then getting on the gas it makes the grinding sound also. Now it's making a whining sound and gear chatting when driving. Makes the sound in every gear, only stops when on the gas just enough to take the load off the drive train. The trans shifts smooth, goes into gear without any trouble. Never fell or jumped out of gear. I never had a trans go bad besides a T-18 wore a reverse shifting fork. Any input on whether it's a bad trans or something else in the drive train would be greatly appreciated.
