1989 F-150 Manual Transmission Problem
I am new to the forum and quite impressed by the many experts and enthusiasts here on the forum. Though I have owned several Fords in the past, this is my first time in the truck arena. I am looking to buy a F-150. Several I am looking at currently. One in particular is a 1989 F-150 4x4, short bed, 302 with manual four speed with granny gear. The truck is in great shape body and paint wise for it's age. Four wheel high/low works great. However, there is one pesky problem which has me wondering how expensive it would be to repair and if that's the reason of the low asking price. I understand from reading the many posts that transmission repair and/or replacement can be quite expensive for these trucks. Here is the problem. From a cold start, the truck runs fine. After running fifteen minutes or so, it won't go into gear. I have been told by the seller that they believe it to be an easy fix. Either a hydraulic issue, the clutch or linkage. Looking for your expert advice before moving forward on purchase. Just trying to keep from getting in over my head on repair. Thanks!

Springer Spaniels Rule
I believe the 89 is hydraulic, try to bleed the system, or possibly the master going, also might be an issue if the hydraulic line going to the slave is real close the the exhaust.
