Default Gas pedal does nothing.

After a little while I got my truck running again. I went to go use it and when I hit the throttle nothing happened. I popped the hood and tried reving the engine that way. Again nothing happened. I did manage to fix that part, but I still can't find the fix for the throttle pedal. What should I be looking for.

After a bit more looking around I think the throttle cable has snapped. I don't know how I don't see any corrosion anywhere on it. But it's the only explination I have found.

near the throttle plate part, that you fixed, there should be a wire with a **** on the end that should attach to the throttle plate...if it is connected there and still does not work, then you need to look at the gas pedal itself to see where that cable is.

There are only two ends, it should be pretty easy to trouble shoot. If you find both ends are attached as they should, then it is broken inline, somewhere.

Good news is the part is reasonably priced and not too tough to replace.

Both ends are attached that's what made me believe it was a broken cable.

I was just looking over my truck again and turns out it's not a broken cable. It's attached at both ends so not sure where the problem is. I turned the throttle by hand under the hood and had someone watch the pedal and it moved. But with the truck running nothing happens when I hit the pedal. Only seems to rev up when I touch the throttle under the hood.

Your pushing the cable from the carb end. It's very likely the wire inside the housing is matching up end for end and moving the foot feed. When you use the foot feed you are pulling the wire apart at the break and no movement of the throttle valve occurs.

I got a person coming out tomorrow to look at it who knows more about this than I do. But what you're saying does make sense.

When someone sits in the truck and pushes the pedal do the throttle plates move ? If not, you need a new throttle cable.

Just put a brick on your gas pedal (with the engine off of course) and walk around and see if your throttle plates are wide open. If not, you need a throttle cable. There's nothing else in between. Presuming of course, that your throttle cable is actually attached to your gas pedal.
