Ive got rid of both cats on every truck ive owned and ive used both 2 1/2 and 3 inch pipe and ive never noticed a difference in power between the two. The one thing I do like more about the 3" pipe is that you get a little bit deeper tone.

Ford did their homework. Stock pipe size is that size for a reason. The EFI is tuned for both cats. 3" pipe is overkill on a 170hp motor. You lose on both hp and torque. So many want to argue this point for the sake of louder exhaust. Louder is not power. The sad thing is that after all of that work, it doesn't even make it to the stock average HP number of 185hp.

It really woke up the motor. I have hooker long tubes into a 2 1/2 inch custom y pipe no cat then into a summit brand turbo muffler and it exits before the rear tire, real simple design and free flowing it's 2 1/2 all the way. We mounted the o2 sensor so in would read both banks and i had to buy a extension for the harness but it works good
Couple questions. Where is your O2 mounted and how loud is it? Like enough to turn heads or just sound like an old truck? Also where is the Y pipe way back?
