Differential question
I got a 10 bolt open differential on my 89 F150 XL right now but I want a posi or limited slip on it. So what differentials would bolt right in to my setup, no need to do any cutting or conversions, also what cars come with these diff's since I was going to pull one from a junkyard

Any 8.8 rear end off of an F150 or Bronco from 80-96. The axle code will have an H in front of the number if it had a factory limited slip. There should also be a tag on the diff cover wjth the gears and the LS stamp.
Your best bet would be find a complete axle and just bolt it up. Craigslist or salvage yard. Make sure it has a speed sensor on top if you need it. I was able to find a 3.55 LS axle for $160. Good opportunity to rebuild the rear brakes and replace the hose and lines if necessary. Parking cables too.

JY axle best bet.
Another option is to purchase a new LS carrier and swap your tone ring and pinion ring over to it. I did this on my 88 bronco... The axle tube was damaged beyond repair.. bought an open diff from the JY for 125 bucks, new carrier (came with spider gears and clutch packs). Rebuilt the brakes and bolted her up. It was time consuming since it was the first time I'd ever setup a ring and pinion, but I learned a lot!
Your 89 should use the yoke style flange, you'll need to order a companion flange to connect your driveshaft to a newer "round" flange axle. I ordered mine from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard for $30. It's called a 1/2 ton companion flange on their site.
