Clutch pedal issue. Anyone solved this already?
Hello all,
I have a 95 standard cab 5 speed 4.9.
On the firewall is a bracket that has pivot pin for brake and clutch. When I push on the clutch pedal the right side of the pin moves about 1/2". Here is a photo of a similar (can't find a good photo of the actual part) part.
Anyway, the nut at the top right is the are I am talking about. When I push the clutch in by hand and before it starts to disengage the clutch it moves towards the seat about 1/2" and returns when you release the pedal. Nothing else moves. I assume there is a bushing or something that has broken but see no evidence of that. The first impression would be to tighten the nut but that would not work as it would make it harder to get the rotation needed for the push rod. My neighbor says to weld the tube to the bracket but I know that is wrong.
I really don't want to take it all apart to find out it is an easy fix.
Does anyone know of a rebuild kit for this pivot rod assembly or do I need to get an entire new setup? Not really interested in junk yard replacement as it may do this again, at least with new I could expect a decent time of proper operation.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob
