'96 300 won't start when hot
Howdy
Been a while since I posted, but it's been a while since this truck has given me any grief.. been a decent truck, aside from getting super crappy gas mileage (never figured that out) and sounding like **** (exhaust leak).
Anyway... got a '96 f150 300 5-speed that suddenly doesn't want to start when it's hot. The starter motor engages and rotates the motor solidly and forcefully, but it won't fire up. I smell strong odor of gasoline almost immediately, from inside the cab- but can't really smell it anything where, getting out of the truck and checking for fuel leaks.
If I let it sit for 20-30 minutes, it'll fire right up no problem. Runs fine otherwise... just gave her a tune-up (after the problem started, hoping that would fix it). I haven't done the fuel filter yet, because I hate getting squirted in the face with fuel, but if I'm smelling a strong odor of gasoline when it's rotating, that would lead me to believe it's NOT a fuel pressure problem, nor pump.
ICM? Some sensor? The engine light has been on for a while, also... so there's that. I did the cat converter and O2 sensors about a year and a half ago.. but I suppose anything's possible.

For the collective:
This ended up being a bad temp sensor. The sensor was reading way colder than the truck was, so running super rich. Flooded the engine, when hot.
All fixed now.
