Question 95 5.0 - Stalls when started (sometimes)

Hello all,
As stated I have a 95 5.0l Eddie Bauer, w/ dual tanks & 4x4.

Sometimes (50%) when I start the truck and let it idle in park, it stalls out after 45 seconds to a minute. Restart it and it will run fine forever.

Sometimes (15%) when I put the truck in drive, it stalls out. Restart it and it will run fine forever.

Sometimes (10%) after starting, but not immediately, maybe 2 minutes later, while I am driving if I go to accelerate, the truck backfires badly and has no acceleration. If I wait it out (10 seconds or so) it will start accelerating normally and it will run fine forever.

I have no clue where to start on this one.

Any thoughts?

I'd start by checking your fuel pressure on the rail. If that is low, when is the last time you changed your fuel filter and pressure regulator?

agree with the changing of the fuel filter.. does it do it when a certain tank is selected ? or it don't mater which tank you are running on.

Agreed, fuel pressure is a good thing to check. Also pull codes - just because your CEL isn't on doesn't mean there aren't any codes stored. A code might steer you in the right direction.
