87 F150 fuel injected 300ci inline 6 cold starting problem
Hi, I have an 87 F150 fuel injected 300ci inline 6. I cannot get it to start "cold" without a little ether. It is a problem the first start only. The truck has single fuel tank. Fuel pump works. New fuel filter. can anyone explain how this fuel injection works? Carburetors have chokes, what is used in place of the choke on fuel injection?

The IAC and TPS work in conjunction to supply proper air/fuel mixture at idle. You should test your fuel pressure, test KOEO, KOER, and 2-4 minutes after shutdown to check for bleed down.
You should have both a lower pressure in tank pump as well as a high pressure inline pump, FP readings should be between 45-60, with 50+ being optimal. I would venture to guess that you're not getting enough pressure with KOEO, which means you could try turning the key to the run position a couple of times (wait a couple seconds each time to let the pump turn off), if this solves the not starting when cold you may have a leaking/sticking injector or FPR that is sticking-both would be identified by the bleed-down test.
