5.0 gt40 build help!!
I have a 1989 xlt lariat that I am working on. IMCO 2.5" exhaust no cat. Short bed single cab truck. I wanted to give her some more power but not radically build it so I decided to get a set of cast iron gt40 heads with brand new trick flow springs off of a 1993 cobra, low mileage (less than 80000) having them mildly ported and polished, just enough to let them breath better. Got some 1.7 ratio roller rockers for it. Stock cam. with the 1.7rr it will get me .472/.472 lift. Stock bottom end. the intake is going to be a 5.0 h.o. upper and lower intake from a 1992 mustang gt motor. I have the intake, MAF, wiring harness, ecu, pretty much everything to just "plug and play." I thought of this the other day just after sending the heads and intake to the machine shop to be ported, polished, and port matched. My question is The mustang ecu sending fuel to the injectors is going in the 351w and h.o. firing order.. and I'm using the stock non ho cam and bottom end... Will there be a problem long term or short term with running standard 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 firing order with the newer computer pushing fuel to the 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 order? Thanks guys, any opinion helps

I think I'm interested in a cam now. Hate to say it but I'm gonna get one. What do you all think of the CL35-600-4 comp cam. it is a 351w cam that has pretty good range from low/mid to high. It'll have around .520/.505 lift. My trick flow springs and stock bottom end non ho block should be fine with that cam. Close to being too radical in my opinion, but for a weekend toy and occasionally driver to work, what do you think of the comp cams thumpr? I'm sticking to a flat tappet cam because I don't want to switch to the roller cam. I'm almost def going to go with comp cam but any suggestions? I don't want an alphabet cam so please don't suggest the e303.
