Default 1995 F150 E40D transmission problems

Hello all, I have a 1995 ford F150, 5.8L, E40D transmission. Im having trouble with it shifting. It has a very very hard one to two shift. Before it would shift hard and not even go into gear past second, but I replaced the VSS and now I just have hard shifts. I also replaced the solenoid pack in the trans as well. The transmission was very clean and no metal flakes I noticed also. Is the transmission needing to be rebuilt? or is this a electrical or sensor problem?

Thank you

What about the MLPS on the side of the trans? Have you checked it? Could have water damage or just be old.

These Transmissions are notorious for going bad. They are the main reason most people get rid of their Ford trucks, around here nobody will touch them for less than $1400 to rebuild the entire unit.

The TPS can cause issues with the shift on those transmissions.

Try checking the air flow sensors such as the MAF, or the vacuum sensor the MAP
