Default 1994 f150 4x4 manual trans removal

hi. i'm trying to remove the transmission from my 94 f150(5 speed). Chilton manual says to remove the transfer case but i cannot loosen one of the six bolts(the one at the top on the exhaust side) as it is hard to access due to the exhaust. i feel like i have put a pretty good amount of force on it trying to use various extensions, etc. i'm trying to figure out whether to remove the exhaust which seems like it could get really messy at the manifold or can i possibly remove the trans with the transfer case still attached. also, would a transmission jack from harbor freight work for this job.

thanks.

if you got the room, just removing the transmission with the tcase on it. also figure your transmission and tcase weigh 300 lbs (safe guess) so find out what the jack can handle, it should easily be able to handle even 400-500 lbs.

I would put a couple of the bottom bolts back in the back in the transfer case and then use whatever force you have to remove the top bolt and you may have to drop the exhaust to remove the trans if you do use plenty of penetrating oil on the bolts and let it soak overnight
