1991 F150 E4OD compatability
Hey new here and I am wondering what years and models will fit in this truck. Looking for a transmission. Mine will not go fwd very much, I am talking inches. Rpm doesn't drop at all when putting in any fwd gear. Reverse works good. I don't know much about the truck. I bought it for $300 and don't want to put too much into it. It is a nice looking truck, but is just going to be a work truck. Will a V6 or 4X4 E4OD work?

Short answer, no.
4x4 trans and 2wd trans have a different tailshaft which can only be changed by disassembling the whole trans.
4.9, 5.0 and 5.8 all have the same bolt pattern so the trans and torque convertor will interchange. The flex plate on the back of the motor will not.
Best to stay in the same year because a lot of changes happened to those trannys in the early 90's. You might get away with 92 or 93 but no guarantees.
V6 bolt pattern I'm not sure, but I'm thinking it won't match.
