Default what to do?

I have a 94 F 150 xl 4.9L 2WD. I would like to lift it. But I don't need anything fancy or expensive. Just want to kinda level it and put either 31s or 33s under it. What is the easiest most inexpensive and safest way to do this. I'd like to put 2in blocks on the back but what do I do about the front? Taller springs and shocks? Any suggestions would be a huge help.

I'm thinking a "How Do I Level My Truck" thread needs to be a sticky.


These links should give you a good start. In short, to level out the truck and run 31's, replace the front coils with Moog cc824 or cc844 springs.

Default one more question

If I put 2in blocks in the back and put 824s in the front, will that work as far as getting level as possible?

I lifted mine so correct me if Im wrong but the mentioned springs are to level a stock truck... if you get those springs listed above and put 2 inch blocks in the back it wont sit level.

I think it would depend on what is between the rear axle and leaf springs currently. On my '90 4x4 i installed the 824 springs and it brought it almost perfectly level. The rear is completely stock with factory 2" blocks.

Not sure what is under the leafs in the back. Will check tomorrow and get back. Thank you all for the advice.

I was reading it like he wanted to add 2 inch blocks to the rear even if he already had 2 inch blocks under it. If its 2wd I believe they did not come with blocks and the 4wd did come with them. If his is a 2wd he could get the replacement 824 springs and add the 2 inch blocks from a 4wd in the back and be set to go!

Just read he does have a 2wd so the above option could work if he wanted to go that route

I just looked and there is no blocks in back. So the 2in blocks in the back and the 824s should give me enough clearance to put some nice 31s on it? With all that said I shouldn't have to add longer brakes lines or anything? This forum has been huge a help. You go online and look for kits and they want an arm and leg for some stuff. The truck was my old man's got it when he passed away. I know a lot of you are going to flip but I hade 14 Silverado that I got rid of for this truck. Love this thing and the possibilities are endless. To everyone who's commented thank you. Yall are a huge source of info.

Nope, no extended brake lines are needed man! Actually depending where you are I have some factory 2 inch blocks I would sell. Otherwise Im going to put them on my trailer thats made out of a truck box to get more lift from it. I put a 4 inch lift and 35's on and I didnt need extended brake lines. You will need new U bolts though for a 4wd. Ill also PM my number and you can text me and ill get that video to you

31s will fit a stock 2wd. No lifting is required, they will rub SLIGHTLY at full turn though. If you want to retain a factory look while giving your truck a much more aggressive and level stance I would recommend the 824s and leave the back as it is. On a 2wd the rear sits about 2 inches higher than the front from the factory. So if you lift the front 2 inches with the springs and lift the back 2 inches with blocks, it will sit at the exact same angle. I would do the springs first, see how you like it, and if you decide you want the back to sit higher THEN add blocks. I promise you won't even want them after you see the wonder these springs and a new set of 31s work on these trucks.
