Pivot Bushing R&R
#2
I just changed mine. I'm doing radius rod bushings and f250 springs too. I took my axles all the way out, some guys on YouTube use a ball joint remover while the axle is still on the truck. I hammered out the center steel bushing, then cut the rubber in four places with a sawzall, then I hammered out the sleave out of the I beam. I made a puller to put the new bushing in, I used some grease on the new bushing to help the new one go in.

That is a great video which is what gave me the idea to go ahead and tackle the job myself.
I finally received my Moog bushings for this job. I'm planning on renting one of those ball joint remover tools. I'm wondering if when I remove the pivot bushing bolt if it will allow enough forward movement to get those radius bushings out easily. That's what I'm hoping for anyhow.

When you get the bolt out you can pull the end of the I-beam with the bushing down and put a board in there to hold it down. That will give plenty of room to work. I'd start spraying penetrating fluid now on everything, better to let it soak in for awhile.

I am still waiting for 2 nice consecutive days. I sure hope it is like a night and day difference after I get it done though. It does feel like the front end is pretty loose.
Thanks for the specs on the Penetrating oils. I am going to soak it with Liquid Wrench for sure.

This was great! I rebuilt a lot of stuff on my '92 F150 4wd, but couldn't figure out what the noise was from the front suspension. I ordered these bushings from rockauto.com for $10.87 total, going to attempt this repair now! ;-)
