Default New F150 owner. 2 questions.

Hello everyone! I just bought a 1991 F150 Custom 2WD......my first truck. It's not pretty, but it runs, and made the 1 hour highway trip home from the seller's house without any issues. I plan to use the truck for the 3 mile commute to/from work, and to make runs to the hardware store to get lumber or mulch or whatever. There are a number of maintenance type items that need to be addressed, but I'm a pretty handy person with a friend that is a mechanic, so I plan to tackle everything myself. So my 2 questions are:

1) I want to basically replace every bushing and ball joint that I possibly can throughout the entire truck. What brand/company do you guys recommend? OEM? Ebay bushing kit (Prothane) + ebay ball joint/tie rod kit? LMC Truck? Or maybe it's mix and match (like ball joints from _______, and bushings from ________)? Any suggestions here would be great.

2) Can someone post a picture of their gas pedal linkage area under the dash? The previous owner rigged up something, and I am trying to figure out how to fix it properly, but haven't had much luck finding detailed pictures of that area.

Thanks!

For suspension components, I'd go with Moog or Motorcraft. You get what you pay for here.

Here is the gas pedal on my 1993...would guess it's the same as a 1991. There isn't much to it, hope it helps.

i agree, moog problem solver is a good line of products. unless theres a reason, its what i always install. not the cheapest but good stuff.
the 3 mile drive is going to be rough however..condensation in the oil, rusting the exhaust, etc...

Thanks East302! Those pictures are perfect.

And yes, I have decided to go with Moog for ball joints and tie rod components. I'm still debating on who I want to get my other bushings from (pivot, radius arm, body/bed, etc). Prothane appears to make a pretty good bushing kit, so I may try those out.

You will be happy with moog - I have moog ball joints, tie rods, springs, and bushings that have been put on my truck in the last year and they are all solid. Energy suspension also makes good stuff - I think I ended up using their kit for the rear sway bar mounts because moog didn't have one available for that application.

^^^u can get something similar on amazon from prothane or energy suspension for $60-70.

Only reason to get them from LMC is if you need the hardware too - which a lot of people do - but that is more like $300 for the whole package.

I think you'd be happier with the rubber isolators - the polyurethane ones ride rougher and squeak IMHO
