Check the AC pump as well. If it cycles on and off it could be the pump is trying to seize up. If the PO just put one of those stupid refrigerant cans from O'Reilly's in there they could have screwed the system. The system needs oil, which the cans don't have.

Alright, well I bought the tap and dye/ extractor set from harbor freight. Only cost $50 after the 20% off coupon I found. After I get it in I will keep you updated and try to take pics along the way

Lightbulb Tires

Still nothing in the mail from HF but while we are at it... I plan on swapping tires while I have the truck jacked up. currently (the way I bought it) there are 32x10.5x15 on the rear and 33x12.5x15 on the front. I'm assuming that was their way of leveling out the truck lol.
Anyway, I have seen a lot of good looking 32" and 33" tires on here and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I was looking at some BFG all terrain T/A KOs that ran about $600. I would prefer something that has an aggressive look to it, but as long as its under $800 ($1,000 MAX) and can handle all the snow we get, I assume I'll be happy.

how do you know when its cycling on or off? (sorry I'm still pretty new at this) I have watched it and the face of the pulley spins/stops (the part that looks like a triangle with dots) but I thought it was supposed to do that??? If that's what needs replaced though, that would be a relief...

The clutch on the ac is activated by magnetic current which sucks the shaft into the pulley. you can test it by seeing if the whole clutch assembly is spinning with the pulley with the ac off. Turning on the ac will allow the clutch to engage and spin as a whole assembly. another way to test the field magnets is to apply power to the pigtail of the clutch to see if the assembly is working you will see it suck in and release when applying load and removing. if its partially engaging it will spin and slip which will cause damage to the ac clutch don't confuse this for it cycling on and off to meed the ac needs a slip will show visually as a wobbly pulley if you look at the outer lip. You can try burnishing the clutch again by cycling it on and off every 5 seconds at idle, then bring it up to 1200 rpms then 1500 rpms untill the clutch has cut a new surface to seat on. This is a possible fix for a clutch that has been unused for some time, they are burnished already when bought new, most likely if it is slipping your clutch is probably shot assuming it is the factory one. An easier way to go about this is to drop some coin at a shop that has one of the automatic ac charge machines should run less than $100 the machine itself will diagnose the ac system as well as add oil and new freon to the system.

^^This is a pretty good explination. If you have your defrost on your AC should cycle as well. Turn everything on and have your hood open. Then watch your AC pump from the pulley side. You'll see when it engages. If it is bad, it's possibly going to get expensive. Then again if you are so inclined, get a used one from the salvage yard (not recommended due to wear and tear like yours). Then take it to a mechanics shop to evacuate the system and change the pump. They should be able to refill the system with the proper amount and oil.

It is highly illegal to evacuate refrigerant to the atmosphere. I am not suggesting you do this.

So I got the tap/ dye and the screw extractor sets in a few weeks ago. I was hoping to be able to get a decent drill before winter hit but it looks like it's too late. (I'm in South Dakota and it's been snowing for the last 6 days). So Imuch going to take it to the tire shop tomorrow morning and let you guys know the damages....

Default PO'ed and happy with the results

So after waiting for the buttheads to make me an appointment at a local tire shop, I took the truck in and waited some more... Not even an hour later I get a call back saying it's done.... I'm mad because after having "you have to take the hubs off to remove the rim" drilled into my head by everyone, including the guys that worked on it, you didn't have to! I could have done the breaks by myself a long time ago and just waited to buy tires.... But I'm ecstatic about it only costing me $110.00! They only rotated my rotors but F-it! Saved me the estimated $900 and I can just do them myself.
I hope I can trust you guys with help in the future more than these sh*theads that almost gave me a heart attack! Lol
