Default Emergency brake cable

I've got a 96 single cab lwb 4x4 and my emergency brake cable is vertically shot on the right hand side just before the drum.
Are all the emergency brake cables the same length from the union connection back. (Where the cables connect to the single cable to the foot pedal)?

Well, the parts store should be able to look up the correct cable. I think the left and right cables are different lengths. It would be best to just go ahead and replace both of them.

I like using driver side and passenger side rather than left and right. Yes I know right side should be passenger side, but.

I think they are, but parts stores always want to know your wheelbase (on the door post sticker).
You can sneak that in without removing the brakes. Not easily, but it can be done.

I will be replacing the passenger and drivers side cables, since I have to pull the brakes apart.

Good plan. I always change the cables with the brakes, don't know why more people don't.
It's the emergency brake. Kind of important.

I just put new brakes on the rear about 4000 miles ago, it'll be a good time for a inspection.

You can also get them on Rockauto and it is all categorized by wheelbase. I'm only sort of recommending as it appears one of the ones they sent me isn't correct for this vehicle. One is though I've been trying to replace mine forever but a previous owner or mechanic removed both parking brake struts so I can put them in but they won't do anything. Need to go to a junk yard with a sledge hammer to get old drums off haha. In the mean time I have been replacing any old brake lines that are rusting just in case.
