Default 6" Lift Question

Hey Everyone,
I am planning to get a 6" Rough Country lift for my 92' F150 4x4 and while doing some research on other kits I noticed that the drive shafts have to be lengthened. Is that the sort of thing that i have to find a 4x4 shop for?

Thanks!

If it's a long box there is no need to lengthen the drive shaft..if a short box maybe

It is a short bed.

Also, any other things that I need to look into buying with it other than what comes in the kit (also, assuming that if it will fit a Bronco that it will fit an F150...)?

I recommend also getting extended brake lines if you go with the 6 inch lift. I have a 4 inch lift on mine and when I had it put on I got brake lines and a steering stabilizer

I have the rc lift kit 6" i bought the extended brake lines and stabilizer from them also!dont worry about the drive shaft you will know if it has to be extended, It will all bolt up, and if you think the drive shaft will pop out on the first big bump then address it when your done installing the kit. you will be able to drive it on the street just fine

Great, but now I am curious. Where would you go to have the driveshaft extended if it was necessary?

Places that work on larger trucks usually have a driveshaft shop (or know where to take them).

Any recommendations on manufacturers for replacement shackles (might as well since I'll be replacing the leafs and the stock aren't in great shape) and replacement bushings?

Oh, also, any recommendations on tire make? I'm going with 33s and mostly drive on roads. My default will be BF Goodrich all-terrains.

if you are doing a 6 inch lift, what other people said sounds right. what shocks are you getting or what comes with the kit? I just put a 6 inch on mine, but didn't buy a kit..I kinda put it together myself. one other thing I would highly recommend doing while you are at it is replacing the axle pivot bushings. You are going to have everything apart anyway, not much more to replace those. I used rubber, Moog brand.. lot of people use Poly, I went with rubber because they lasted 21 years from the factory, and rubber will absorb road shocks and so forth better than poly... but that is something only you can decide for yourself. I am also putting on 35x12.5x15 tires on, and in doing so, additional stress will be put on wheel bearings and stuff, so putting new Timken bearings in after I get the alignment done, which is something else you should do after you get the lift installed. Cant think of much else at the moment, but probably forgetting something. Here is how she is sitting right now... don't have the new wheels and tires on yet. Have recently finished up with bodywork and paint (last sept actually) bus she hasn't been driven much. Installing a new rear bumper tomorrow.. its a never ending ordeal.
