Default Time for a new engine??

Ok, so i have a 92 with a 5.8. Lifters knock at all times (terribly when cold), it had a pretty bad oil leak around the rear main seal, and when it gets hot the oil pressure drops to nothing. Im also pretty sure its got a head gasket/cracked head issue due to loss of coolant ant white smoke upon starting.... So my question is, is it a good idea to go ahead for engine replacement??

If the truck's in decent shape - you're going to need one.
If you watch for someone parting out a lower mileage one, I'd think about going that route.
If you get there early you can usually hear it run before it comes out. You'd have to be hesitant if you can't.
3 to 400.00 is a common price. Usually want to change some gaskets and maybe the oilpan while it's out.
