Default Sputter when starting

I have a 1992 F150 with the 302 in it. I've noticed that here recently my truck will tend to sputter like its flooded when I crank it up. It will idle fine after about 3-5 seconds and then when I put it in reverse to pull out of a parking spot it has a bad idle to it and sputters until I put it into drive and then it idles and drives fine until I shut it off again and repeat. I know that its probably due for a new fuel filter, but can a bad fuel filter cause this momentary sputter to happen? It has new Autolite 25's in it along with new coil and wires. So I wouldn't think this to be a spark issue. Just wanted a little insight as to what may be causing this problem. Thanks in advance!
