Default Replacing oil pump in 302: stock, high volume, high pressure?

1994 5.0L/302 4x4, around 220,000 miles.

Over time the oil pan gasket has squeezed out of place and it's time to replace it. I bought it this way so I don't know the history. I might as well replace the oil pump also.

I see on RockAuto that there are stock replacements, high volume pumps, and high pressure pumps.

Would anyone care to comment on these options?

Thanks.

My preference is the HV pump, as I prefer to have the extra oil flow through the engine. You'll hear arguments for both stock and HV pumps. You'll also hear that an HV pump will suck the stock pan dry, which isn't true. You don't need a high pressure pump, the HV will have more pressure than the stock pump.

Been down this road myself with a new engine, from what i have seen on the net and of the melling pump site,a standard flow pump is sufficient for stock or even performance motor. The thinking is hi vol etc for engines with larger than normal oil clearances, running engine oil coolersand or both.Larger oil clearance they mean high performing engines built a little loose on the crank/rod clearance etc.I have read from melling that the hi vol pump will just by pass what is not needed, but also read that a pump bypassing all the time causes heat and strain on the pump drive, only real advice i can give is i have used hi vol pumps in motors i have built for occasional strip work and they all were slightly more claranced with no issues,my new 351w i am putting in my truck tho is standard clearances so i am running standard pump, hope all this helps....cheers.

Thanks for the responses. I've decided that the stock pump will be fine. No need to fix something that ain't broke.
