So the transmission I have now can handle it? Also what about rear end gears?
Also what suspension parts are you talking about upgrading?

I'm not saying you'd have to upgrade them, just that it'd be a good idea. IIRC the late 80's got away from the C6/C4 transmissions, so you'd have to look at the numbers for yours. New coils would be a great idea for the front end, as well as checking your mounts for everything.

A couple things to also consider is the exhaust, and you might have to change some HVAC stuff.

Rear gears---if you plan on going to a larger tire, changing the transmission to other than stock, or hauling heavy loads.......those are good ideas for you to change the rear gear. Just be warned that it will change your speedo. I'm not saying don't do it by any means, just making sure you know what will happen.

Yeah I knew exhaust would be another cost. And I may plan on putting a little lager tire but not much, probably just a little wider. Honestly the look I am going for is "sleeper" keep it all stock grandpa look except for motor.

Let me ask what do you think price will be? For motor an install price?

If the transmission came off a small block ford it will fit onto a small block ford aka the 300, 302, and 351w. If you wanted to go to a 460 you would need a big block transmission and I believe the 7.3 transmission is different than the 460

Digem, if the plan is to go up to a big block motor like the 460, these guys are all right. There are so many different things that will, in turn, need to get changed so that the components of the truck can now accommodate the extra power and forces. If its a stock f150, the truck will be lacking in many areas. Its a lot of work, and gonna cost quite a bit from a shop.

If you're not gonna be doing a lot of towing or hauling, theres not much point in getting something like a 460 put in. Something like a 351 would be a lot more manageable, to keep it an f150, and save you some hassle.
