how to achieve 300hp 5.0 ?
I know this has been brought up before, but I've seen forced induction is the cheapest way to reach the power but I cannot find a kit out there for my 91. Id like to hear from people that have 300+ at the flywheel. I do plan on doing a maf swap for sure also. please keep in mind id like to stay on a 4g budget but cheaper is better

A later years explorer 302 has 260 stock with gt40p heads. I'd pick one of those up, put a cam in it, rebuild it with new pistons, a bigger intake and a few other things. I'm sure if it didn't hit 300 it would be damn near close without forced induction.

Easy. Ported lower truck intake, trick flow or AFR 165 heads and a custom ground camshaft. Good aftermarket off the shelf truck cams are comp cams 35-512-8 or 35-349-8 if you don't want to go the custom route.
Since you're going Mass Air, there is no real reason not to go with a custom ground cam.
The #1 rule here is do NOT use mustang camshafts or intakes.

Also upgrade your injectors to an injector with a better spray pattern such as the 96-98 Explorer/Crown Vic Injector or get an aftermarket 19lb injector such as Wells, Delphi, Standard, Accel, etc.
These are plug and play. No modifications necessary and if you buy used injectors, send them off and have them professionally cleaned. It would suck to get used injectors and they are stuck and inoperable.
