fuel pump keeps dieing
1995 f150 with a 5.8. It keeps killing the fuel pump. I've put several pumps in it and it runs fine for a couple months then the pumps just die. A new pump gets it running again but then it goes out again. Is there something I could be doing wrong when I put in the new pump? Is there something else that could be causing it to go out? I'm getting tired of buying new pumps.

Get a Ford pump from the dealer, well worth it to save all the aggravation. They come with a 3yr 36k mile warranty.

Those fall under the aftermarket category, and I wouldn't trust any from Napa either. The best thing about the Ford pumps, besides actually lasting is you get the entire assembly, pump and fuel sending unit for the gauge.

I've got two pumps from Car Quest going on 4 years and doing fine. When we initially installed the rear pump we kinked the fuel line, kinda like you'd do with a straw. That pump only lasted a couple months but we replaced under warranty. I'd bet on a restriction somewhere in the system, aftermarket pumps can do just fine and shop at a parts house that has a decent warranty. You really shouldn't be out more than your labor.
