Default Engine Swap dilemma, Can you put a 96 302 in a 1992 F150?

Good Morning Guys,
I am wondering if you can harvest a 1996 302 and put it in a 1992 f150? Has anyone out there done this engine swap before?
My concerns are:
-does the ECU on a 1992 have a problem with a 1996 302 cam? They are different cams, however what I think is that the ECU will have a problem with the injectors firing.
-or do I have to convert my truck to OBD2 in order to run the 1996 302 in my truck?

And if this is the case that I cannot throw my 1996 engine in the 1992 ...can I just grind my 1992 cam to RV specs and throw it in my 1996 block so that it will work with the 1992 ECU and injectors?

Any help is great in this matter, as I have sunk too much money into this 96 engine to turn back...

The 96 engine is basically the same.
It will work in the 92 with the 96 cam. Use the 96 firing order on the plugs. If you use the 92 distributor, you have to use the 96 gear on the bottom of the dist. shaft- roller cam needs a steel gear, flat tappet cam uses a cast gear..Use the sensors from the 92. Exhaust manifolds from the 92, or plug the O2 sensor holes on the 96 manifolds.
Don't worry about the crank sensor on the 96 block.
Not 100% sure about the knock sensor, someone else will know.
May be a couple other little details, but it will work.
