Default Emissions controls

I just picked up an '89 F150 project truck for some weekend towing to the local race track and lake. Its probably gonna need a rebuild soon and was wondering while I have it out if I can get rid of all that smog and emissions control b/s. I dont live in an are where I have to pass state emissions so that's not a problem. Is it going to effect the ecu any? Thx in advance.

One of my buddies did that too his 351 and he heterosexual about 21-22 miles a gallon. He got a shorter belt and bypassed the smog pump and plugged up the egr valve getting rid of everything else no cats no co2 censor. Go for it if you know what your doing but don't go ripping stuff out if you don't know what it's going to do when it's out
