Default Coil wire longevity

I have noticed that since the trucks went to EFI the coil wires are prone to going bad, when I had my 92 I had to replace the coil wire a couple times. It would not fire and after replacing the coil wire it started right up and the coil wire that was on my bronco was way too long so i replaced it with a new one that was shorter I had in stock and it started better. Do the newer electronic ignitions put out more power then the older Duraspark systems as I do not remember having to replace as many coil wires on them.
