I have a 1996 with a 5.0L 302 SFI that I have to replace I was wondering if I could put in the 5.8L 351 SFI, also will it just plug in or will I need to do any modification? What parts will need to be swapped if any besides the engine and headers? is this a pretty straight forward swap?


any extra suggestions or input would be much appreciated.

The wiring will work with the exception of the 351w not needing the knock sensor. You will need different exhaust manifolds and a different Y pipe.

thanks for the info, looks like I'm going to be ditching the 302 for the 5.8L 351, does anyone have any performance upgrades that they would recommend that made a noticeable difference?

Is the 351w a roller block? As far as worthwhile upgrades, it depends on your budget. Heads, Cam and Intake is what you need.
