95 5.8 4x4 dies after getting hot
My 95 5.8 4x4, after getting hot, sometimes will just die on it's own, or won't start after turning it off. The code I got was the TPS. I changed that out.
Same code. Replaced it again thinking I had a bad one. Same thing.
Still happens. It does have dual tanks, and it doesn't matter which tank I use.
Also replaced the fuel filter.
Same thing.
Replaced the coil, and cleaned all connectors and grounds. Same thing.
Never know when it will die. What I did notice, when it does die, and when I try to start it. I look at the tach. It does not move a little like when it does when it does want to start up. To get it to start up, I turn the ignition on and off a few times until I see the tach jump a little. The will start right up.
I'm confused as hell on where to go on this.
Any help would be great to cool my head.
Thanks

On my 96 with a 302, the tach is connected to the coil at the same terminal which is supplied by the Ignition Control Module. That is where I would start and the following link will take you to some good troubleshooting steps for that module: http://easyautodiagnostics.com/ford/...module-tests-1
you would have to perform these tests while you're experiencing a no-spark no-start condition.

Thats a good site. Actually I was at the junk yard and kinda accidentally put a PIP in my back pocket before I left. Went out to my truck and it wouldn't start. Then I remembered about the PIP in my back pocket. Which I "accidentally" put in my back pocket, and hooked it up. Started right away and has been working fine ever since.
But I am saving that diagnosis web page for future views.
Thanks
Actually what I replaced was the"
The Gray colored ignition control module is called the Push Start Module.
