5.0 firing order

5.0 firing order
I recently got a 94 F150 with the 5.0 motor. I was replacing the distributor cap and the wires were not in the firing order on the sticker on the front, 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. I changed them to match the sticker and it seemed to be missing. I changed them to the pre-94 firing order, 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 and it seems to be running pretty good.
I checked the VIN and the truck is a 94 and it came with a 5.0. It does have 209k on the odometer.
I guess it is possible someone put a pre-94 motor in it, is there an easy way to check that?

137 is the HO firing order. 154 is the base 302 firing order. Exact same motor, just comes down to which cam it has.
Ho has the roller lifters and 351 firing order. The non roller has the other firing order.
Some 94's came with the HO and MAF, some not. All the 95's and 96's did.
Someone could have changed the cam, the whole motor, or the rad saddle if that's where your sticker is.
If it's had a few owners, as most have, you really don't know what could have been done over the years.
