Default 5.0 drinking coolant

So I was getting ready to drive out to 29 palms from San Clemente recently. As per norm I checked all my fluids because I would be making that trip constantly about every weekend. I made it about 30 minutes outside of San Clemente when it started over heating and smoking. I replaced the radiator in December 2012 so I'm hoping thats not it, but i have not had this problem since before I replaced it. When i checked the coolant level the radiator was dry and so was the reservoir. I have never seen any signs of leaks from any of the hoses or on the ground. Any ideas?

Definitely double check the tubing from the coolant, when I wrenching at the top of my struts from under the hood, my wrist rested on it and it started draining like a garden hose. Doesn't take much force at all

My wife started it today for 10 minutes and I had topped off the coolant this weekend when I came home(riding motorcycle now) and it started smoking just sitting there. Should i do a drain and cleanse?

Just wanted to make sure you didn't have antifreeze in the oil.

You probably have a blown head gasket or a cracked head. The symptoms you describe (coolant consumption and smoke/steam out the exhaust) are textbook.
