306 Build
Hi guys, haven't been here in awhile, finally got back into a F150 last week. More on that in another thread! This is the build thread for my 306, right now its just a standard bore 302, with 100+k on the clock, I'll post some pics of it when I get home from work tonight. As well as the plans for it.

First off, I'll be using Stock E7 heads I got off of a friend, they have 77k miles on them:
Date Casting:
Valve's:
AFAIK, the valves are supposed to be that color..
The only thing gonna be done to them is a gasket match, 3 angle valve job, and stainless valves.

Pics:
And no, the chain is NOT for sale, nor will it be, less you've got a nice 1911 .45 you wanna trade
Don't ever run Pennzoil:
I've never seen a gasket of any kind on the engine protection plate:
Back of the engine, with a Green and Yellow sticker on the freeze plug:
Crank and main seal:

The Slumbering beast
Untarped:
I dropped the pan, got all the pushrods out of in between the rods, slicked the cylinder bores with some oil, rotated the crank, found this:
Still has some crosshatching baby!! :WooHoo: every bore has a bit left, this is bore #6, and, they all have a tiny carbon ridge, not very big, I'm wondering(and hoping) if this engine wasn't bored over at all...

Pushrods after soaking in cleaner for 3 days, being wire brushed, and then scrubbed with Fast Orange Pumice hand cleaner:
Those are Flat Tappet Pushrods, which I can't use, but will hang on to, as I plan on getting a couple trucks anyway when money allows..

So plans for this engine are:
.030" Overbore, making a 306CI, or true 5.0L engine.
Sealed Power Hypereutectic Flat Top Pistons with Hasting's Moly rings
Forged Rods
Crank Turned and Micro Polished
Mustang 5.0HO Roller Cam(little hotter profile vs. the truck cams)
Roller Rockers
Roller Lifters
Longtube Heddman Hedders
Weiand 8124 Street Warrior Dual Plane, Lowrise intake
Edelbrock 600CFM carb(1406)
Clevite Main Inserts and Rod Bearings
2 degree Camshaft Advance
Cloyes True Roller Timing Set
I'm also planning a distributor recurve.
The engine will not be going into my 1988. Instead, it's destined for a 1980-1986 F150 Reg Cab Long Bed, it'll be C6 Auto which will be rebuilt, made into a Wide Ratio using the Planetaries from an E4OD and have a full manual valve body.
Moritz Machine in Tulsa is gonna be doing the bore job, installing new freeze plugs and cam bearings, turning and polishing the crank, baking the block, wet magging it. I'll be doing the rest.
