302 to 302 HO Swap
I have a bad knock in my 302 right now and I was wanted to swap it for something with more power. Would it be easy to swap in a 302 HO into my truck or no? What all will I need for this swap and can I keep my E4OD since I just got it rebuilt. Also how much more power will the 302 HO have?

I don't know if your still considering this swap but I'm pretty sure the 90's 5.0 HO had somewhere in the neighborhood of 220 horsepower? I'm not sure if there is any major differences in the wiring between the two but I would guess that ECM would be different. Also you might want to double check where the power band on the HO motor is, you might find yourself having to rev it more then its truck oriented counter part.

I'm considering a similar swap for the 180,000 mile 5.0 in my truck. So far my research is finding that all is needed is use the H.O. long block and bolt in my current truck manifold and I think front cover. The distributor will need to be wired for the H.O./351W firing order but that is easy.

91 and before trucks.. 289/302 firing order.. 92 after is HO/351 firing order..
the "HO 302" is nothing different than the truck engine other than the Camshaft and intake but the truck intake is much better than HO intake and equal to the GT40's.. same heads and everything else..
