Default 1996 f150 5.8 runs rough, surging

I just joined the forum, 1st post, hoping to find answers to my truck problem, that my local mechanics have been unable to fix, thanks
1996 ford f150 4x4 5.8, Auto, 155,000
The truck is running rough, misfiring, surging, mostly when cold, but after warm up, it will run better, sometimes. I have been to 2 mechanics, they both have replaced the plugs, wires, caps, sensors, 3 cans of Seafoam, fuel pump, MAF sensor, #3 injector, really is frustrating, the Ford dealer won't work look at it, end of rope

Default Problem solved

Replacing the distributor was the fix, we also replaced MAF and fuel pump but it was the distributor that finally fixed it

What was wrong with the distributor? Yours being a 96, it didn't have the ICM on the distributor, correct?
