1991 302 swap question
Hello forum. This is my first post. Hopefully this is the right section.
I bought a 1991 F150 about two weeks ago. It's got the 302, auto, 4wd, xlt lariat package.
Well over the past two weeks the engine has developed a really nasty lower end knock.
My question is, what engines can I all swap in and keep all the stock injection? The reason I ask is I know someone scrapping a '92 F150 with the 351.
If anyone knows what year ranges and what motors will work it would be super helpful.

Ford junky
Grab everything you can from under the hood. You will need to grab the computer as well. There may be some rewiring that will be needed to be done, but grab a chilton or haynes manual to follow the wiring schematic.
It can be done, just will take time to do it. Also grab the exhaust manifolds and y pipe.

Thanks for the reply, but sadly the 351 idea is out. He decided to have one last hurrah with it. Long story short, there's a rod hanging out of the engine now.
So I guess I'm off to the junkyard.

I did the 302-351 swap with the Windsor series, and although it tried my patients at every turn (which I have very little now after this swap) it worked. I have a 91 ford, same package as yours, though only a 2wd. The only things I had to get was lower intake manifold, 351 flex plate, distributor (make sure the plug on that matches your original) and the rod that drives the oil pump. I made my 302 harness work along with the 302 exhaust manifolds (deleted my egr in the process, didn't realize the location changed from intake to exhaust manifold). It can be done, just takes a lot of time and even more patients. Just throwing it out there if you'd ever want to do a swap like this.
