Default New Member here, 110K on 4.9 and a BROKEN ROD??

I bought this truck for $600. It's a clean little '95 F150 4X2 single cab short bed Eddie Bauer 4.9 5-Speed truck. Black/gold exterior with tan interior. I really love the truck and bought it because it was so cheap and so straight. But I got to say Im a bit baffled.

First, it's the 4.9. Everyone here knows how tough this motor is. With just 110K on the truck from the ORIGINAL owners....out of speculation what do you guys think could have happened to my #4 Rod? Hydrolocked maybe....maybe oil starvation? I did notice it has a MileGuard JiffyLube filter on it :/

Anyways, I'm going to remove the pan and head this weekend and pop out the broken bits, and see how the rest of the engine turns over by hand if at all. Mainly I was just curious what you all think could have happened, and if in your opinion it's possible for the other bearings/rods/cylinders to be alright after this thing snapped.

Thanks in advance.

My guess would be clogged oil passages including pump screen and over reving with the 5spd. With 110k it doesn't get driven far. Oil changes might have been at 3k but been in for multiple years.

I would say over reving it. I don't see oil related issues causing a rod to break. Maybe seizing. I have a 95 with 140,000 and it runs great. Still clean under valve cover and clean oil. I have 2,000 miles on oil change and it hasn't even used a 1/4 quart of oil. It has really low miles for the year and it has no signs of oil related issues.

Also, the broken rod may have scored cylinder wall beyond repair. Maybe cheaper to find used engine and run it.
