Default Need advice from someone who has done a clutch job

Clutch is slipping and slave is leaking. I'm going to do a clutch job on it myself. What are some things I should maintenance/replace while down there? I have a 96 f150 2wd, infamous Mazda tranny

Good luck on the clutch job. That said, there is an alignment tool you might need for the brass clutch bearing (small brass piece that holds the front of the input shaft in the rear od the crank shaft and can be a pain in the ars to install) installation, Yes I would install a new one now, make sure you reinstall the rock guard (If someone has not deleted it for you), use a floor/transmission jack if you can, to save you body from being the jack. If there are any plastic bushings on the linkage replace them during the clutch change or you will be back later to do them.
That's all I can think of now.
Oh be careful, be safe, and take your time.
Hope this helps

there is no linkage on this style..
just replace throwout bearing while clutch is off, maybe even the slave cylinder since the trans would have to come back out to replace that.

Would I have to replace the flywheel or can I just resurface? Someone said something about it causing clutch if I just resurface because of the weight of the flywheel vs the new clutch

Resurfacing is common practice. It should not cause a balance issue. Having either a new flywheel or a used one that has been resurfaced ahead of time on hand will allow you to remove everything and start putting it back together immediately instead of coming back to it a few days later.

New flywheels aren't that expensive.
