Lightbulb My Finished 94' 4.9L GT3782 Turbo Build.

Well here goes, I purchased this truck last year around the same time. Like in February. The truck had 97k on it. Very well taken care of mechanically. Cost me $900 . As soon as it was mine i wanted to do a major performance increasing build. Like my past 10 cars since i was 16 (21 as of now xD).

I was goofing around with the math for cost vs performance. The N/A path would have cost me over 5K to get the power i have now. So i opted for a turbo. The first design and setup cost a little over 2.5k when i finished. That kit used a T3 turbo. The boost was designed to max at 1.5k and spool through the entire rpm band. And when i came to testing it was even earlier. Around 1k-1.2k. It was set by default to 8PSI from the waste gate. Simple right.

That was the basis of the first revision of the build.

During that time of building it, i purchased a set of 8 255CC injectors. Off a stang. AFPR, which i ended up modifying the fuel rail to bypass the original and stuck the new near the back on the return line.

MSD Street Fire ignition system. Coil, custom plug wires, CDI Box, Cap + rotor. Along with Copper core spark plugs.

After testing. i recorded this video.

Then i did some serious test driving and runs for numerous reasons XD. Lots i mean LOTS of power near through 2.5k all the way to red line (Mines at 4k). So much boost was being made with the undersized turbo i had to do a lot of tuning to the waste gate and BOV. It would actually dump all the boost out the BOV when it made to much. Really only happened from 0-65mph then it wouldnt do it.

The next months that went by i purchased a GT3782 From a local pull your own part yard. Fixed it up and removed the "Lock" that stopped the rotating of the turbine housing. Fixed the position of the internally adjustable flow rate.

The boost is ~11 PSI Right now.

Makes serious power in mid-range to high rpms, enough to destroy brand new tires in a matter of minutes.

Never had it dyno'ed.

Converted to E85 using my own methods , This truck is a 100% stock / untuned ECU, All tuning was timing and FPR based. Plus plentiful amount of custom circuit design on my end. (i also develop PCB's / Other hardware boards and whatnot + program them also).

Thanks for taking a look

My Turbo Map: its messy XD

25 PSI at 3500 RPM's seems to be the Most efficient target for this motor and turbo xD. i could only imagine what that would be like lol. Hits the Center map near 2500-2700 RPMS

That's sick. Any severe changes in fuel economy?
