My dad had a stock 95 extended cab with the 300/auto and he hated it said it didn't have any power 10mpg loaded or empty the whole time he had it didn't like it at all stranded him in south fl so he got it running again traded it for a v10 super duty.

He also said that previous vehicles with a standard and a 300 did pretty good. So idk

I'll tale that for my truck.

I've never had any trouble with my 300. I've pulled some heavy loads with mine I pulled a full tandem axle flatbed loaded with about a ton of scrap steel to the scrappers. And had no problem pulling it. My buddy had a newer 95 chevy with a 350 in it and it had trouble pulling it. These beasts will go through a lot of abuse and keep on going. I've seen some with 500,000 miles on them and only regular mataince on them and the ran like a champ. I am a strong believer in the power and durability of the old 300 6. If they ever bring it back I'll surely buy a new truck with it.

The 300 in my 87 runs on 5 cyls. The mechanic cant figure out whats wrong with it but still had all the power like with 6 cyls only problem was you had to giver more gas when letting off the clutch.

The very first time I was introduced to the Big 6 was when I bought an old 85 F150. Dad and I loaded her down with a huge stack of wood in the bed, so much she was aquatting pretty bad. He dropped her into granny gear and she idled out the driveway up a slight incline. Gotta love that power.

well... when i turn the key in mine, it starts, and then proceeds to run until i shut it off. It has good low range power, also rolls just fine on the highway up through 85 mph. Consistently gets 18 mpgs on the hwy at 80 with A/C, more like 21 if you're going 65 w/o A/C.

When I do tow with it, it ain't no thang.
