Default inline 300 overheat

so not long ago my water pump belt broke on a long trip through the middle of nowhere... so needless to say by the time i got a new one in it the head got 2 cracks in it and now it wont idle due to coolant in a cpl cylinders.

i am working on getting another head, but should i be concerned about cracks or warp in the block?

I got mine so hot it melted the starter. Several cracks in the head, none in the block.

Well once you've got the head off, inspecting the block won't be that difficult.

I would think the safest course of action though will be a replacement motor, since you got the temp(s) all the way to the "Yer' **** outta luck buddy" range.
