Default Fuel injector cooling fan

Ok, this is my first post on here. So I will start by saying Hi.
I am not much of a mechanic. But I enjoy tinkering and so I enrolled my self
in the school of cussing and hard knocks. Don't eat me!
I bought a 1988 F-150 4 speed. It has 168,000 on it and seems to be in
fairly good shape.
The fuel Injector cooling fan is getting ready give out. It was actually
trying to find out what it was that caused me to find this forum and the only reference I have found to it was here.

So what I need to know is, can it be replaced? I haven't been able to find anything, I think most of the places think I am looking for an imaginary part.
If not a replacement, what can or should I do?
many thinks in advance!

This is the only reference I have been able to find to it and there is a photo. It sits behind the battery.

According to that thread it's not really needed if you have an updated fuel pressure regulator. Maybe check to see what your fuel pressure is at? Somebody may have already updated it so that the fan is not really needed.

Is it that simple though? Can the pump itself push that much pressure? The pump is on my list of parts to be replaced. But not yet.

I'm not really sure if it's that simple, but according to the page that was given it looks like ford updated it. You could also wrap the main body of the fuel rail with a reflective thermal tape. I wouldn't cover the down ports going to the injectors though. Think thermal wraps for turbos and exhaust. Before that though, I'd check to see what your fuel pressure is before you do anything.

So that's what that thing is for. I remember seeing one on a truck I worked on back in the early 90's when I worked at a Ford dealer. It was never mentioned in any of the Ford schools I attended.

I've been calling around some dealerships to see if I could find some info through them. The one shop said they have an old timer who will be in tomorrow. LOL. See what he has to say.

Nothing wrong with old timers. Lol. When Jay Leno passes, there's going to be a ton of knowledge gone.
